If you live in Sheboygan, you’ve surely heard the news that Marcus Theatres, located at 3226 Kohler Memorial Drive, is going under huge construction. Included in the plans, a pizzeria that will serve alcohol and food while the moviegoers watch their movie. The theatre is being fully used, even though the theatre is being torn apart by construction workers. The construction will not affect your movie experience. In the entry way there is a sign that reads “Pardon our dust!”, but don’t let this stop you from going to the movies: each theatre is completed with new carpet and seats. These seats, called DreamLoungers, allow the moviegoer to choose how reclined the seat is. They have replaced every seat in the movie theater. The seats proved to be very comfortable with extra padding and a drink holder on either side. They definitely lived up to their name of DreamLounger because it is very easy to fall asleep as the seat can be reclined to just about laying down flat. This can be negative and positive – with movie prices so high, you don’t want to sleep through the movie! However, when you walk in you have to choose where you want to sit. Your seat number will be provided on your ticket stub. This proves to take extra time when buying your tickets. The only negative to this is that you have to sit in the seats you chose. However, all seats are DreamLoungers, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Allow yourself extra time before your movie to choose your seats. Sara had the opportunity to relax in the new chairs while watching the DisneyNature movie Bears, rated G. The movie chronicles the first year of two brown bear cubs, Amber and Scout, as they follow their mother, Skye, on the search for salmon. These bears live in Alaska, and the challenge to find salmon proves to be high. With predators, the lack of food, and steep mountains to climb, the producers inform you that not many bear cubs make it through the first year. As you follow the bears, you see their impressionable minds taking in all of their “firsts”. From first swim to first encounter with the 1,000 lb. bear Magnus, the moviegoer can connect with these cute cubs. You will find yourself laughing at their silliness and on the edge of your seat as a wolf trails close behind the bear family. Sara gives the movie a 9/10 for it’s educational value (and cuteness!). The movie is filmed in high quality and gives you a sense of being just feet away from these wild, Alaskan animals. She recommends it for anyone over the age 5 who are interested in animals, nature, and the world. Marcus Theatres now offers a matinee showing each day of the week. If you hadn’t had a chance yet to check out the new renovations going on, head over any time and check it out! The chairs are comfortable and the movies are worth the money. Keep your eyes open for the date that the movie theatre is completed! Review by Sara Becker Movie poster courtesy of Google.com
