This year’s annual Feats n Follies will be one of a kind, with more media, a larger group of Emcees and many special guests. Starting next week Wednesday through Friday there will be a presale and if you purchase a ticket during these three days you will be entered in to a raffle for a free Feats N’ Follies T-shirt.
Feats N’ Follies has been around for more 30 years and is a tradition here at South. In previous years Feats N’ Follies was an all day event, there was an all day softball tournament, all day dodge ball tournaments, donkey basketball, synchronized swimming, Senior/Staff basketball game. Feats N’ Follies also used to help raise money for American Field Service (AFS) which brings students to our country from other countries for a year to get the American experience. In the past 10 years the attendance has died down and there was not enough interested but this year they are working the day activities back in to the program with a volleyball tournament during the day from 12 pm to 3:30 pm.
The fun continues at seven o’clock. This year the theme is Live From South High It’s Saturday Night because all of the skits will be mocking the skits going off the popular TV show Saturday Night Live. The main Emcees this year are Seniors Mackenzie Birkey, Jason Dekarske, Lauren Pfile and Ben Johnson. Make sure to watch out for some special guests throughout the show. These talented ladies and gentleman will just be the entertainment between the acts of our other talented students.
A member of the Feats N’ Follies team, Junior Amy Grunke, stated “ I think everyone should come out see the show because there is some really surpsing talent this year and it’s a great way to showcase south and the hidden talents some of us have.”
Some talents you can look forward to seeing are singing by Junior Clayton Michener, Junior Holly Reinl on the piano and a cheer performance by Senior Cameron Fuller, Monica Samsin and Andrew Schuessler.
During the show Relay for Life will be making a appearance by passing around buckets to help raise money for cancer another thing they are sponsoring is a bake sale during intermission of the show.
Advisor Trisha Benish stated,
“There are multiple student organizations and special guests in the show that you don’t want to miss.”
This year there will be multiple videos being played, including a slideshow of screenshots of appropriate snap chats. Other videos will be including the dress code and mocking some of the recent major news stories.
Pfile stated,
“Doing more videos helps us connect more with the audience because it is more modern and it makes it more interesting because we can get a lot more skits in.”
The entertainment will be family friendly and hilarious, so make sure you come out and see the show April 12th at 7 o’clock. It will be Live at South High on Saturday Night.
