The excitement and anticipation has been building up here at South High for the past several weeks. Today was finally the day! Fifth Harmony arrived on campus around 11 a.m. this morning. 21 students had the privilege to meet the five pop singers for photos and an interview question. Lake Breeze Publications had the opportunity to talk with the singers before they went on stage in front of South High School, Farnsworth Middle School, and Horace Mann Middle School. When asked how the relationship was between the five girls when they first became a group on the FOX show X-Factor, Ally Brooke responded with, “It was pretty shocking at first, but we had another chance to accomplish our goals and dreams.” Being so young and famous, there are many obstacles that they encounter, Lauren Jauregui stated, “there’s been millions of obstacles.” She noted that being in the public eye and not growing up in a normal teenage lifestyle has had an impact on their lives. The girls agreed that they have matured faster because of the different lifestyle they have adjusted to. With that, plenty of criticism and harsh comments have surfaced. Camila Cabello noted that, “You train to ignore it, even though you are curious you don’t look.” Being on the road with Demi Lovato and touring the country, some of their favorite stops are Omaha, Nebraska, New York City, Montreal, and Boston. In conclusion, the girls said that being on the X-Factor was the perfect platform to do what they love and have the opportunity to do it.
