On Tuesday September 24th, a popular artist released his brand new album titled ‘Nothing Was The Same’, which has already sold enough to eventually make it to Billboard’s 200 chart. Artists’ full name is Aubrey Drake Graham but is more commonly known as Drake or Drizzy. Drake has been known to have a softer side to him unlike most rappers who appear aggressive and cold. Reasons for this is because Drake shows a rather emotional side of him in his music and tells us stories throughout his music.
According to Huffington Post Entertainment, Drake was quoted in a recent interview on September 23rd saying, “I’m just being me, and part of being me is being in touch with emotion. That’s all I write about. If I didn’t write about my emotions, I don’t know what else I would write about. I’d make songs about generic things that nobody could relate to and I probably wouldn’t be in this position that I’m in right now.”
Most of Drake’s songs are relatable to his fans due to him singing/rapping about things such as heartbreak, attitudes towards certain situations, family, friendships and relationships. When it comes to the rap and hip hop genres most songs have a hardcore beat in the background and repeat the chorus with different verses included. Yet, with Drake we have seen him evolve from his albums Thank Me Later and Take Care to his now latest hit album Nothing Was The Same. Throughout these past three albums the sound and beat has differed slightly, enough to keep his fans coming back for more. In his more recent album the music includes arrogance with a touch of sensitivity. According to HitsDailyDouble, Drake’s third studio release is expected to sell between 675,000 and 725,000 copies. If these projections are true, this will be Drake’s highest-selling album in its first week. Nothing Was The Same would become the second highest-selling album of 2013, following Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience which sold 968,000 this past March. McKenzie Noltner rates this album a 9 out of 10, because she is a tremendous fan. She loves the new and improved beats and twists in the music, definitely recommend it to all!
