Sheboygan South will be breaking ground on a $4.3 million on Advanced Technology Centers to focus on preparing students for future manufacturing and engineering career pathways in the next few weeks. With the percentage of kids attending a four year university not as high as it used to be, the school district knew they needed something in their schools that would reach and benefit a higher percentage of the students choosing manufacturing careers or Tech School degrees. Due to the need Kohler and Johnsonville partnered with the school district and gave the investments to make these great facilities. “Our focus was to set our students upon the path of technological advancement,” said South Principal, Mr. Mike Trimberger, with the students interests and needs at the forefront, this is a thing that will benefit a lot more kids than people would think. “The Red Raider Manufacturing Oversight Team expects to increase the number of students taking technical education courses by 100% over the next two years,” stated Trimberger. Even for students who may not think they have an interest in this sort of career path, you could take some of these classes and may turn out loving it and considering it for your future. Lots of other businesses invested money into the Sheboygan Area School District for this giant addition, showing that they believe in what we are trying to do at the high school level, and that will only in turn help out the businesses find future employees that have a solid understanding with the skills, and have seen all of it before. That is what the Red Raider Manufacturing is all about, preparing kids for the work force and giving the tools to the kids that will be able to make them succeed and find something they love to do and are able to do quite successfully. Sheboygan South will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening on October 18, 2016, it will be one of the first things you see when you walk into the building, and it will be a great addition and help to all the students for many years to come.
