Many people go out on Halloween getting dressed up and collecting candy without actually knowing the meaning behind Halloween. The word Halloween itself is actually shortened for the phrase “All Hallows’ Evening” and it occurs on October 31st in the late evening. Those who have celebrated Halloween for what it really is and would masks and costumes as an attempt to copy the evil spirits or soften them. As we all know, the trick-or-treating part of Halloween has just become a tradition because of the fact that in the past children would threaten to do something to the homeowner’s house if a treat was not given. Everyone has a different way of celebrating their Halloween evening. Halloween is fun time for, kids and teenages especially, to show a dfiferent side of them and show off how creative they may be with their outfits. When asked what she likes to do for Halloween, Junior Abbie Wagaman replied, “I like to trick or treat with friends, go to the Dominion of Terror and have a bonfire after that.”. Wagaman does like to dress up for Halloween every year and has some of the most creative ideas ever! Abbie decided that she would be showing up as a Japanese onesie cat with blood on her face this year. All of the decorations is the best part Halloween, Abbie determined. Everyone has a favorite costume that they have witnessed, and Wagaman says, “My friend was Jack Sparrow one year, it was awesome.”. The population all enjoys their own ways of celebrating these festivities. Have you ever wondered what it is like to be behind the scenes of a haunted house? Sophomore Vania Bollwahn does makeup for the workers at Dominion of Terror, and what an outstanding job she does! Bollwahn is an outstanding artist when it comes to doing make up. Vania’s sister Cora Bollwahn stated that, “dressing up and handing out candy”, is her favorite part of Halloween. “One year for Halloween, Vania and I did one another’s makeup and made it look like we slit our throats. It looked unbelievably real”, Cora exclaimed. Many people like to dress up for Halloween. Even Vania admitted, “going all out and dressing up”, is her favorite part of this holiday. After all, Halloween is meant for dressing up and getting some candy to eat! Are you someone who likes to have a little fright? Make sure you stop by the Dominion of Terror before it closes up for the year! It will get your adrenaline rushing like crazy and make you wonder if you can make it all the way through. There is so much fun things to do at this time of year. The beautiful fall weather makes good for a stop at the pumpkin farm and enjoying some warm apple cider, carving pumpkins. Do not eat too much candy or you might get a stomach ache. Everyone have a great Halloween and be safe while you are out and about trick or treating collecting candy.
