Mothers, they shower us with unconditional love and support. Day-to-day we tend to overlook our mom’s hard work towards us. They have sacrificed a whole lot for their kids and we owe an unpayable debt to them. Every day is Kid’s Day to a mother but when exactly is Mother’s Day? This Sunday, May 14 is Mother’s Day and it is the perfect time to show your appreciation and love towards her.

A survey was sent out to Sheboygan South High Students and they were asked what they do for their mothers on Mother’s Day.

“I buy her flowers, take her out to eat, buy her a spa gift card, and then finally give her a happy mother’s day letter signed by my family,” said Junior Maximillian Herr. Treating your mother during the day is a great idea, but so is making her morning.

“I get my mother flowers and a thoughtful little card, I also make her breakfast in bed because who doesn’t like breakfast in bed?” explained Sophomore Jack Wiroll. In the other hand, celebrating outside rocks!

“My family normally goes to my aunt and uncle’s house. We usually go outside for a while and play basketball, baseball, soccer and other outdoor activities. Then at the end we have a big lunch and just hang out after that.” stated Freshman Brynn Bonin. Doing something together can help a child bond more with their mother.

“Last year, I bought two ceramic animals and a collection of paints so that my mom and I could paint together. She bragged about it to all of her friends and even strangers, so it was a success. This year I am taking her to try acupuncture because she said she wanted to do that a while ago.” said Senior Zanya Schroeder.

Having trouble selecting a thoughtful gift to give to your caring and loving mother for Mother’s Day?

“An ideal gift for a mother in my opinion would be to let her chillax all day; help her out in every way possible. Most importantly, show her and tell her how much you love and appreciate her.” said Junior Yasmin Garcia. Showing your mother your love and appreciation through spending time with her will never fail to make her happy.

“I think flowers such as roses or lilacs and a card would be great gifts to give a mother but if you can’t give much you can always be there on that day for your mother and say thanks for everything and just spend some quality time with her” agreed Senior Danny Yang. Mothers also love thoughtful and insightful gifts.

“I feel like getting her a necklace with her name on it and buying her new makeup along with her favorite perfumes would most definitely make her day.” stated Sophomore Stephanie Ramirez. Keeping it nice and simple can’t go wrong too.

“A nice bouquet of flowers and the day off is the way to go on mother’s day” said Freshman Joshua Hittman. Whatever the case is be there for your mother.
