Lakeshore Technical College Promise

Lakeshore+Technical+College+Promise

Many of us would like to go to college, but some of us may not be able to attend because of financial issues. Not anymore, because Lakeshore Technical College, otherwise known as LTC, has a new scholarship called the ‘Promise Scholarship’. The Promise Scholarship is available to any student attending LTC in the fall of 2017 and “gives promising high school seniors in the Lakeshore community the opportunity to attend college by helping them access Financial Resources and enroll at LTC. By removing financial barriers, who may not have had the opportunity will now be able to earn a degree and pursue a career. In the unique partnership, the student and Lakeshore Technical College will work together to make college possible.”

In order to apply for the LTC Promise scholarship, you have to complete several forms. The first form, due February 1, 2017, is the LTC Promise Interest Form. This just simply shows that you have interest in applying for the LTC Promise Scholarship. The second deadline, which is February 15, 2017, is for the LTC Basic Admission Application Process Form. The third form, due March 1, 2017, is the FAFSA, which is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The program requirements are the fourth thing needed; they are your admission steps for completing the application process, due by March 15, 2017. From there, you will receive the LTC Promise notification by April 15, 2017, which will notify you of your eligibility. If a student is put on a waiting list for the academic program they are going into, they will be given an opportunity to submit an appeal for eligibility. Again, anyone attending LTC for the 2017 fall semester may be eligible for this scholarship.

There is no limit to the amount of recipients of the Promise Scholarship, but in order to  be eligible for it, you promise to fulfill initial eligibility requirements. When you become an LTC student, you promise to continue to certain academic standards and participate in school success initiative. You also have to graduate on time from an LTC district high school or home school in Spring of 2017. From there, you have to have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher, and have a composite ACT score of 16 or higher. You have to live in the LTC district which are the counties of Manitowoc, Calumet, Ozaukee, and Sheboygan,  and want to attend LTC in the fall of 2017. You also have to hold an attendance record of 90% or better, meet with your LTC program advisor and complete all program enrollment requirements, enroll as a full-time LTC program student, and attend classes beginning in the fall 2017 semester, as well as commit to participating in a variety of student success sessions.
The LTC Promise Scholarship covers the entire gap between financial-aid, tuition, and fees after federal and state grants have been applied. This is eligible for up to four consecutive semesters, a minimum of 12 credits (and a maximum of 15 credits) per semester, and this will not include summer semesters. The Promise Scholarship does not cover book or living expenses, it will only cover tuition and fees. If desired, students may access the federal student loan program to fund textbook or living expenses.
