SHS Feats N Follies Proudly Presents…

It’s that time of the year again! The time Redwings band together to show off their talent, that is. Whether that be singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or actually playing in a band, students, staff, and the general public can witness it all at Souths very own Feats ‘N Follies! This year’s Feats ‘N Follies will be held at 7 PM this Saturday, April 16th, in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 for those above the age of 6. This year’s FNF theme surrounds classic TV sitcoms as Senior MCs Silas Brunn, Philip DeTrana, Erin Gamb, and Amanda Hoffmann lead you through the night. DeTrana, MC and a part of the FNF staff, shares, “I am most excited for the audience to see the videos and live skits that the MCs put together. It’s going to be great!”

Classic Characters–This year’s MC’s, Seniors Erin Gamb, Philip DeTrana, Silas Brunn, and Amanda Hoffmann pose with famous TV characters. The set up for the show often takes several hours starting the Friday afternoon before the show.

Putting their heads together, the emcees have spent hours making videos and rehearsing skits for the big night. They were especially selected by the FNF staff to fill the transition time between the acts with as much laughter as possible. And these four do just that! The crowd won’t be disappointed with these comedians on stage. The emcees aren’t the only ones who have spent hours on the show! The Feats ‘N Follies staff, led by South’s own Jon Schrank, contains 14 dedicated Redwings who have been planning the show since the beginning of the year. The crew does everything from picking out the yearly theme, emcees, and acts, to advertising and decorating, to setting up and taking down. Staff member Junior Evan Opgenorth leaks his favorite part about Feats ‘N Follies. “The night before when we set up is my favorite part. It’s so cool to see everything we made come together when we set everything up.” Sophomore Katie Banie also shares her experience of being on the Feats ‘N Follies staff for the first time. “The people on the committee are fun to be around and supportive. It is a good group of kids who want to have fun but also get things done and organize a fun performance. We have so many talented kids at South and many people don’t realize how talented their own classmates are. I’m excited personally as well as for the audience to see what the MCs have come up with.” And of course, the show would be nothing without the wonderful acts! This year’s show has 24 of them lined up. Junior Lauren Vega describes her experience as a performer last year, saying, “It was very nerve wracking, but SO worth it.” You can catch her back on stage, this time singing a solo instead of a duet! There’s many performers from years before that agree with Vega and are ready to rock the stage once again. The audience won’t be disappointed to see one specific band close the show. “I can’t wait to see HamraK,” Sophomore Mitchell Gilipsky spills. Whether you’re a student, staff member, or just looking for a laugh at South High, you won’t be disappointed with this year’s Feats ‘N Follies! The public is welcome to attend a Senior vs Staff basketball game before the show at 5 PM in the Redwing Gym. There will be yummy snacks and drinks for sale provided by the SHS Junior class, before, during, and after the show. Overall, it’s a night you won’t ever forget, so don’t miss out: It’s going to be legen- wait for it- dary! LEGENDARY!
