All teachers around the world are not appreciated enough. Most people have that one teacher in their life with whom they consumed the most knowledge or even had a friendly relationship. Back in 1984, we were given a week to appreciate the educators in our lives. Here at Sheboygan South High, we have students who appreciate their teachers, and here are some who participated.
Art Department. Mr. Sommersberger
Sam Kolar (24’), said, “He’s really helped me with my academics and art skills these past couple of years and has given me many opportunities to help further my career. I wouldn’t be in the place I am now without him, and I’m truly grateful for him.”
Mathematics Department. Mr. Gerstner
Jenna Resheske (24’) said, “Mr. Gerstner made complex math much less intimidating (something I needed desperately). He has a way of explaining concepts so that anyone willing to learn can understand. Gerstner is a teacher like no other, and he has an extraordinary gift for inspiring his students.”
Physical Education Department. Mr.Shaw
Stacy Xiong (24’) said, “Mr.Shaw is a kind and gentle person, he is respectful and always encouraging me to push myself forward towards my goals. I appreciate all the times he has complimented my form and technique and my ability to help others work out.”
English Langues Art Department. Mrs. Moss
Isabella Ramirez (25’) said, “I wanted to thank you for being an amazing teacher. Your kindness and humor have made English class a joy, and your dedication to helping every student succeed is truly admirable. Your clear explanations have made English much easier for me, and your jokes and comments always brighten the room. You are a great teacher, and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from you. Thank you for making this year so much better for me. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.”
Science Department. Mrs. Elliot
Jacob Jacquette (24’) said, “ I appreciate this teacher because of how much help she gave me. She is super patient and kind and very outgoing. I also know she tries her best to make anything fun where we can learn it at the same time. She also can put anything in simple terms and explain anything in a easy way.”
Social Studies Department. Mr. Arthur
Corben Renzelmen (24’) said, “Mr. Arthur has helped direct me throughout high school, being my advisory teacher, it has also helped me get to know him better. Seeing him throughout the day is always a reminder of the good things that I keep trying at South to do: my schoolwork, being kind to others, and learning continuously.”
World Language Department. Ms. Mills
Zarriah Carroll (26’) said, “She’s the strongest and most fun teacher in South High she makes learning Chinese a really fun and easy subject she’s very caring, smart, strong, funny, and really really protective she always makes sure her students are having fun and not stressing.”
Teachers are not always appreciated but it is great to know there are a good amount of students that have an appreciation for them. Students don’t say it enough but a lot of them are thankful for their teachers. Educators here at South have helped many students prepare for their future. Thanks to all the educators and also impacting students positively.
