The Quest for the Golden Apple
August 4, 2016
Last night, the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Chamber Champions Gala. During this gala, members of the community are presented with awards to reward them for their contributions to the county. South High’s principal, Mr. Michael Trimberger, was presented with one such award: the Golden Apple Award. The Golden Apple Award is presented to, in Trimberger’s words, “an individual or group of people who are doing great things”. There were eight nominees, including administrators from UW-Sheboygan, LTC, Plymouth High School, North High School, and Lakeland University. “The award reflects not just me,” Trimberger went on to say, “but the school as a whole. Unfortunately, it has my name on it-it really should say South High School. It’s a reward for all the things we’re doing; that is, pushing the envelope and doing everything possible to give our students the advantage when looking for jobs and applying for scholarships and colleges.” Trimberger has often said that South High is the “best school in the universe”, and this award supports his sentiment. This award is a wonderful reflection on how the Redwings are viewed in the community, and a reflection of the efforts put forth by the students, teachers, and administrators with the transition into Flex-Mod, work with RedRaider Manufacturing, and the expansion of the Redwing Way into academics.
